There is an opening for two interns with a strong background or interest in environmental justice work who are particularly adept at analyzing and summarizing case studies, newspaper archives, policy papers, GRs, circulars, in order to assist us in the project.
This would be a full-time internship for one month from October 1st to 31st, 2015.
Primary Responsibilities:
Cataloging and analyzing information available on waste to energy plants in India
Creating a database of existing WTE plants thematically and regionally.
Analyzing the socio-environmental and public health impacts of the incinerators.
Documentation.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
A Master’s degree, preferably in social work, environmental science, sociology, development studies, urban planning and habitat.
Knowledge of waste, pollution and climate justice issues.
Ability to analyze political, environmental, and social trends in the waste sector.
Good (secondary) research skills
Ability to translate the insights into a visual format useful for infographics.
Preferred Language: English
Location: Preference will be given to Pune or Chennai. Candidates from other cities can apply too.
Stipend: Depending upon the qualifications and skills.
